Welcome to Farndon Fields Primary School

Thank you for visiting our school website. This is the place where you can begin to get a real insight into the wonderful things that happen at Farndon Fields Primary School. I took on the role of Headteacher at Farndon Fields in August 2023 and am excited to be leading the school on the next stage of its journey.

We are a successful, friendly school set in beautiful grounds on the edge of Market Harborough. The school has expanded to have two classes in every year group, supported by an extension to the school hall and entrance area in 2018.  We have updated our library thanks to funds raised by our own PTA and support from the local Market Harborough charity ‘Howard Watson Symington Memorial Charity’ and developed our ‘Global Suite’ as a flexible workspace built around the use of technology. We proud to be a Microsoft Showcase school, sharing good practice through this global network.

At Farndon Fields we are incredibly passionate about improving health and later life choices for all the children in our care, impacting positively on the local community. A healthy school is essential to building and sustaining a learning environment. We have a school ethos that promotes health, well–being, self-esteem and resilience. Our Foundation Stones – Nurture, Inspire, Learn, Succeed – underpin everything we do. They form the foundations for our children to be successful in all they do. We have high aspirations for all the children in our school ensuring they receive an innovative, creative curriculum that supports the children’s needs. The entire school community works hard to ensure that the children reach their full potential. Our goal is to develop life-long learning characteristics in children that encourage self-leadership skills, helping them to feel successful as individuals, learners and critical thinkers.

We have very close links with our local community, including a range of organisations and charities. Farndon Fields became a school with academy status on the 1st July 2012 and joined Discovery Schools Academy Trust in September 2015. The trust is a group of 13 like-minded primary schools and two secondary SEMH schools that are aiming to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people across Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.

In May 2023, Ofsted found that the school continues to be good.  They reported that 'Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and academic achievement. Pupils live up to these expectations. They enjoy attending school each day and talk with enthusiasm about their lessons and teachers. They feel safe and confident.' They added that ‘Parents praise the care and attention that staff show their children. One parent, typical of many, said that their child had developed their ‘confidence and pride’ since joining the school.'

At Farndon Fields, we aim to provide an outstanding education for all the children who are part of the Farndon family – supporting them to be the best that they can be; giving children the skills they need for the rest of their life. If you would like to see the school in action, then we would welcome the opportunity to show you around and answer any questions that you may have. Meanwhile, enjoy our website and Twitter feed which showcases just some of the fabulous learning taking place at Farndon Fields Primary School.
