Welcome to Farndon Fields Primary School

Thank you for visiting our school website. This is the place where you can begin to get a real insight into the wonderful things that happen at Farndon Fields Primary School. I joined the school as Headteacher in September 2014, and I am delighted to be leading the school at such an exciting time in its development.

We are a successful, friendly school set in beautiful grounds on the edge of Market Harborough. Our school is growing with the construction of two additional classrooms that were completed in February 2013 and a significant expansion that was completed in January 2018. We have 7 brand new classrooms, a new hall and a refurbished administration area and school entrance. We have also installed a brand-new library thanks to funds raised by our own PTA and support from the local Market Harborough charity ‘Howard Watson Symington Memorial Charity’.

At Farndon Fields we are incredibly passionate about improving health and later life choices for all the children in our care, impacting positively on the local community. A healthy school is essential to building and sustaining a learning environment. We have a school ethos that promotes health, well–being, self-esteem and resilience. These are the foundations for our children to be successful in all they do. We have high aspirations for all the children in our school ensuring they receive an innovative, creative curriculum that supports the children’s needs. The entire school community works hard to ensure that the children reach their full potential. Our goal is to develop life-long learning characteristics in children that encourage self-leadership skills, helping them to feel successful as individuals, learners and critical thinkers.

We have very close links with our local community including a collaborative partnership with many of the local schools. Farndon Fields became a school with academy status on the 1st July 2012 and joined Discovery School's Academy Trust (DSAT) in September 2015. The trust is a group of 13 like-minded schools that are aiming to deliver the best possible outcomes for primary age children across Leicestershire and Leicester City.

In February 2017, Ofsted rated the school as ‘Good’. They reported that ‘Your school has a calm and orderly atmosphere. Pupils say they like school and they know the importance of good attendance'. They added that ‘Pupils share ideas with each other confidently during lessons and are involved in deciding for themselves how they can do better'.

"Farndon Fields has been a breath of fresh air, with both its positive approach to academic schooling as well as the additional emotional support and care given."
